Introduction
I met Thierry Nakalala in may 2021 in Uvira , Congo (DRC), before crossing Tanganyika lake towards Kalemie.
Thierry is a priest and humanitarian worker. He has set up a Congolese association - SAPCO, Sauvez les Âmes Perdues au Congo (Save lost souls in Congo)
The aim is to help and support young orphans.
Currently, political , social , economic situations are terrible in Congo:
Over flooding of lake Tanganyika;
Leading to the destruction of infrastructures and housing places;
Road " cutters " , ransoming , leading to high unsecurity;
Coronavirus plus endemic diseases such as malaria , tuberculosis , yellow fever...;
Tribes fightings : Babembe , Banyindu , Bafulero , Banyamulenge among others;
Armed conflicts , FARDC , ADF jihadists , involving Congolese and foreign soldiers or refugees mostly from Burundi and Rwanda;
Poverty , childhood abuses , child exploitation , forced labor.
As a consequence, thousands of young children are abandoned and on their own in lots of Congolese areas , such as Uvira, South Kivu Province.
Thierry is now taking care of 30 children from 6 to 14 years old. His monthly budget is 100 USD , supported by local people. Which is around 3 USD per month per child. At this time each of these children lives in a local family linked with Thierry.

Media Coverage of Congo
My aim is as follows
First phase - get as much financial help and support as possible from donors; if possible on a monthly basis , but not only , one shot donation will also be welcome.
There will be absolutely no admin cost - 100 % will be transfered to Thierry in Congo
This money will go to :
Food
Clothes
Medicines
School material
Rent for the children houses
And hopefully more children to be helped
Second phase, eventually, would go as following:
Set up an NGO in the Netherlands and have its accounts audited
Hire social workers in Uvira
For the second phase, the only external costs financed by donors will be legal ones : NGO registration , accounts checking. The overplus will be totally transfered to Congo
The whole process is based on 4 principles
Thierry Nakalala is an amazing man. He dedicated his life to these children. His has great courage , faith and commitment. I would perfectly understand, if you already donate to other causes and so cannot do it for us
If you cannot donate, I thank you in advance for forwarding this website to people you know and trust to be potential donors.
1. Solidarity
As most of us were born on the good side of the river, we have a moral and ethical duty to help those who did not have this chance. To give them what is little for us, but is so much for them:
For a worthy life;
Providing them hope;
Happiness;
And a better future they all deserve.
If you wish , you may become godmother or godfather of one or several children
2. Trust
Trust Thierry Nakalala the way he behaves with so little and will handle with this money. Reports will be sent once a year.
Trust me forwarding your donations to Congo and my strong commitment to help Sapco and the children
3. Cooperation
Ideas, suggestions and contacts are always welcome.
Always better to be several than alone
And why not an annual meeting to inform and exchange ?
More donors will join the cause, will require to add more procedures
Let's start small and do the best to grow, no limits of course to the needs
4. Transparency
Nothing will be hidden, no overall costs, your donations are going totally to Sapco and the children.
We will send you a report once a year. To let you know how much help was received and how the money was used.
Thank you for
Help
Generosity
Ideas
Support
Giving the children hope and smile towards a better life.
They deserve it so much
We count on you
