Conocí a Thierry cuando se hospedó en mi casa. Esos días que pasamos juntos fueron muy felices.

Thierry no es el tipo de turista que se conforma con mirar las fachadas de las casas, sino que se adentra en ellas y se convierte en parte de la familia. Tanto así, que hasta me enseñó a preparar y hornear un exquisito "pan de banana". Luego trata de recorrer cada palmo de tierra para conocer e intercambiar con la gente de a pie y la naturaleza que rodea esta ciudad.

Thierry called me one day 5 years ago to assist him on a transaction. As a lawyer practicing for decades, I come across a lot of talented people, but I would say that Thierry’s attention to detail, persistance in following a goal and at the same time his compassionate approach to the people he works with, put him on top of the list of clients who have impressed me.

He has an insatiable appetite for figuring out what makes people in all parts of the world tick and a remarkable fluency in multiple languages, which together with his intimate knowledge of far flung countries that he has visited and studied over the years, gives him a powerful ability to connect with and help people.

All of this is enhanced by his voracious reading of literature in various languages which extends his human horizons even further and by his steady clockmakers hands powered with infinite patience and steadfastness which can restore bits and pieces of broken clocks as well as human lives into working order.

I was privileged to host him in Rwanda for 3 weeks where we had an amazing time exploring the beautiful country, and celebrating life

Quel jour miracleux pour SAPCO et son coordonnateur Thierry NAKALALA, en date 10 mai 2021 cas nous nous sommes rencontrés avec Thierry PAJOT au Port KM KIVOVO au long du lac Tanganyika (Uvira). De ma Part j’ai vu un DIEU qui a envoyé son ange Thierry et chose étonnante nous portons même noms. Vraiment la vision de donner l’espoir aux abandonnés a eu un soutien de la part de l’ange Thierry. Ce dernier nous aide chaque fin du mois selon sa possibilité mais ça ne couvre pas aux demandes ou besoins.

Thierry Pajot : c’est une personne humanitaire, courageuse, crédible, fidèle, déterminative, soucieuse, intègre, douce et humble. Nous travaillons avec lui dans les domaines :
- Aider les orphelins ;
- Les vulnérables,
- Les enfants de la rue,
- Les veuves
- La scolarisation des enfants …, tous cela à cause de la guerre continuelle dans les hauts plateaux, les catastrophes naturelles, les accidents de la route et les malfaiteurs.

SAPCO asbl ( Sauve les âmes perdues au Congo) : c’est une structure mise en œuvre par la concertation de sept personnes dont 3 hommes et quatre femmes qui cotisent périodiquement pour atténuer les souffrances de ces enfants, mais les ressources sont très limitées et il y a accroissement des besoins et des demandes pour d’autres enfants étant dans les conditions difficile Ainsi fait à

I am not sure anymore when I have actually met Thierry. But it must be at least 7 years ago. There was this friendly Frenchman who liked clocks and always asked me my opinion on his recent acquisitions. After a few visits he actually invited me to have lunch whenever I would be in Paris. I am sorry to say that there was never the opportunity to actually have that lunch. In the years that followed our conversations not only were about clocks but deepened to all aspects of life, art, history and much more. I found out that Thierry is a man with many interests, passions and a lot of energy. I guess that last quality is his strength but also his weakness, when energy turns into restlessness. I cherish our conversations and look forward to have many more.

Y la principal es la fotografía, la verdad es que Thierry tiene un ojo fotográfico fantástico y amo su vision para poder capturar diferentes personas como creando una especie de articulo donde podemos ver diferentes tipos de caras que son parte de este maravilloso mundo..

Quisiera que mas personas fuéramos así.

J'aimerais que plus de gens soient comme ça.

Rencontrer des personnes issues de mondes différents et parlant des langues différentes est merveilleux et je suis infiniment reconnaissante de pouvoir partager philosophie et sagesse avec Thierry.

One of those funny and amusing stories.

One day I met this nice and crazy Frenchman called Thierry.

A traveller in love with the landscapes that the world offers us, something that we share since we are both lovers of life...

And I am a Venezuelan photographer and singer. Ana Karina Alias Anacaona.

Our friendship began in Bogota Colombia, where we ventured to Mistral, Thierry's favourite bakery because it is French and offers delicious dishes.

We ate and talked about so many things and now we maintain a friendship that brings different richness to our lives.

And the main one is photography, the truth is that Thierry has a fantastic photographic eye and I love his vision to be able to capture different people like creating a kind of article where we can see different kinds of faces that are part of this wonderful world...

I wish more people were like that.

Meeting people from different worlds with different languages is wonderful and I am infinitely grateful to be able to share philosophy and wisdom with Thierry.

- Two foreigners in a locked down city - Amsterdam - November 2021-

Thierry and I were introduced by our mutual Dutch friend Theo, during the first total lock-down of the city of Amsterdam.

It was a cold but sunny winter day. Thierry invited me for a long walk along the canals and we started a pleasant and interesting conversation.

As all restaurants were closed, we decided to go for a take-out-pizza from the pizzeria at my corner on the Herengracht and enjoy a glass of French wine at my house.

Encountering Thierry felt like meeting an old friend from college, after 30 years.

That special and warm feeling you get when reconnecting with a person after years and realizing that despite the time, the distance and the different paths, except for some wrinkles and a few grey hairs, nothing has changed and that your precious friendship has remained unshaken.

Months have passed since that day in Amsterdam.

We both boarded many planes, embarked for new adventures and continued walking our own paths, but we always remained in touch, sharing each other's stories and pictures on a regular basis.

I am grateful for the trust, the friendship, the authentic and fun conversations.

Je tiens vraiment à te remercier pour les cadeaux que tu me fais en contes et reportages lors de tes pérégrinations à travers le monde.
Tu as une manière de me faire vivre et revivre tes voyages qui m'enchante et qui me font rêver.
Je les attendais avec patience (et impatience) car à chaque réception de tes écrits, j'étais transporté par tes descriptions, si imagées et précises sur l'endroit, le lieu, la population, le climat,
les us et coutumes etc...
Enfin tu me fais voyager dans mon fauteuil et sans visa.

A chaque reportage, je t'exhorte à éditer un livre par pays.
Ton regard de reporter-né scanne l'endroit visité et en extirpe la quintessence, ton talent arrive à nous faire revivre l'ambiance qui t'enveloppe pendant tes explorations.
Et pour tout cela je t'en remercie infiniment.
Je comprends tes approches car cela fait bientôt 45 ans que je suis en charge du tourisme pour tout le sud algérien.

I met Thierry in 2020, when he was appointed as my French professor. I liked working with him due to his approach to teaching and sharing love for his country and language. Thierry was always trying to see one person’s passion in something, and make his lectures go in that direction. He is not a person who follows the unwritten rules, he follows the hearth in everything he does. He has an amazing eye for detail, which we can all see in his photographs from all around the world. Photographs he takes make us feel like we are traveling with him.

Thierry is never out of new ideas and he keeps us inspired and motivated to try new things-listen different music, try new food, discover new painters and visit special places.

He is also a devoted father and grandfather, who loves sharing his love for the world with family and friends.

I am very grateful to know him and visiting this website will be part of my new routine-an escape from daily patterns and finding a beautiful space for my mind and soul.

J'ai rencontré Thierry en 2020, lorsqu'il a été nommé comme mon professeur de français. J'ai aimé travailler avec lui en raison de son approche de l'enseignement et du partage de l'amour pour son pays et sa langue. Thierry essayait toujours de voir la passion d'une personne pour quelque chose, et de faire en sorte que ses cours aillent dans ce sens. Il n'est pas une personne qui suit les règles non écrites, il suit le cœur dans tout ce qu'il fait. Il a le sens du détail, ce que nous pouvons tous voir dans ses photographies du monde entier. Les photos qu'il prend nous donnent l'impression de voyager avec lui.

Thierry n'est jamais à court de nouvelles idées et il nous inspire et nous motive à essayer de nouvelles choses - écouter de la musique différente, goûter de nouveaux plats, découvrir de nouveaux peintres et visiter des endroits particuliers.

C'est aussi un père et un grand-père dévoué, qui aime partager son amour du monde avec sa famille et ses amis.

Hermoso ser humano en crecimiento

Recuerdo era 1ro de noviembre, tenía una cita en la mañana para hacer solicitud de Circulo infantil para mi pequeño Gyan; y después de 5 horas de espera no pude alcanzar plaza para mi pequeño. Estaba muy molesta, decepcionada, tenía ganas de llorar, gritar; realmente no estaba en mis mejores días, ni mejores momentos. De regreso a casa paso por todo el centro de la ciudad y me detengo en pleno corazón de la ciudad Santiago de Cuba, Parque Céspedes. Me siento a la sombra en uno de los bancos para ver si así puedo calmar mis emociones antes de seguir mi camino, cuando de repente se pasea frente a mí un señor turista; shorts, sandalias, unas gafas muy graciosas y se sienta junto a mi banco. En ese momento, justo cuando casi decido seguir mi marcha, me llama y me pregunta:  ¬Conoces algún lugar para tomar un buen café? En ese momento pienso: ``que rayos le pasa a este turista, tomar café a estas horas del día; ¡Yo, ni tomo café, ni se dónde hay!  Respondo con mi mente toda abrumada que no andaba de ánimos, medio que tartamudeo y señalo al primer lugar que me viene a la mente. Bueno, después de la pregunta del café, vinieron muchas más, nos presentamos, nombre, dirección, profesión, la cual teníamos en común. Hablamos de historia, de Cuba, de Paris, de sus viajes, de nuestra pasión por la enseñanza de idiomas, y en ese momento olvidé todo el mal día que había tenido. Realmente, en algún momento pensé que él percibió mi estado de ánimo bajo y se acercó para realmente cambiar mi día; y sí que lo hizo. A veces pienso, que las personas que vienen a mi vida están para enseñarme mostrarme alguna lección de vida, nada ocurre por casualidad, todo tiene un por qué. Ese día, Thierry, el señor turista con shorts y gafas graciosas, dibujó una sonrisa en mi rostro cuando estaba en un desagradable momento de mi vida y desde ese momento, aprendimos a conocernos uno al otro.  Gracias Thierry.

Je me souviens que c'était le 1er novembre, j'avais rendez-vous le matin pour faire une demande au Cercle des enfants pour mon petit Gyan ; et après 5 heures d'attente, je n'ai pas pu obtenir de place pour mon petit garçon. J'étais très contrariée, déçue, j'avais envie de pleurer, de crier ; je n'étais vraiment pas dans mes meilleurs jours, ni dans mes meilleurs moments. Sur le chemin du retour, j'ai traversé tout le centre ville et me suis arrêté au cœur de Santiago de Cuba, le Parque Céspedes. Je m'assieds à l'ombre sur l'un des bancs pour essayer de calmer mes émotions avant de poursuivre mon chemin, quand soudain un touriste passe devant moi ; short, sandales, drôles de lunettes et s'assied à côté de mon banc. À ce moment-là, alors que je décidais presque de poursuivre ma promenade, il m'interpelle et me demande : " Connaissez-vous un endroit où prendre un bon café ? ". À ce moment-là, je me dis : "Mais qu'est-ce qui ne va pas chez ce touriste, boire du café à cette heure-ci ; je ne bois même pas de café et je ne sais même pas où il y en a ! Je réponds, l'esprit tout accablé que je n'étais pas d'humeur, en balbutiant à moitié et en désignant le premier endroit qui me vient à l'esprit. Eh bien, après la question du café, il y en avait beaucoup d'autres, nous nous sommes présentés, nom, adresse, profession, ce que nous avions en commun. Nous avons parlé d'histoire, de Cuba, de Paris, de ses voyages, de notre passion pour l'enseignement des langues et, à ce moment-là, j'ai oublié la mauvaise journée que j'avais passée. En fait, à un moment donné, j'ai pensé qu'il avait senti ma mauvaise humeur et qu'il m'avait tendu la main pour transformer ma journée, ce qu'il a fait. Parfois, je pense que les personnes qui entrent dans ma vie sont là pour m'enseigner une leçon de vie, rien n'arrive par hasard, tout a une raison. Ce jour-là, Thierry, Monsieur le touriste avec son short et ses drôles de lunettes, a dessiné un sourire sur mon visage alors que j'étais dans un moment désagréable de ma vie et à partir de ce moment-là, nous avons appris à nous connaître. Merci Thierry.

I remember it was the 1st of November, I had an appointment in the morning to apply for the Children's Circle for my little Gyan; and after 5 hours of waiting I couldn't get a place for my little boy. I was very upset, disappointed, I felt like crying, screaming; I really wasn't in my best days, nor my best moments. On my way back home I went through the whole city centre and stopped in the heart of Santiago de Cuba, Parque Céspedes. I sit down in the shade on one of the benches to see if I can calm my emotions before continuing on my way, when suddenly a tourist walks in front of me; shorts, sandals, funny glasses and sits down next to my bench. At that moment, just when I almost decided to continue my walk, he calls out to me and asks me: "Do you know a place to have a good coffee? At that moment I think: 'What the hell is wrong with this tourist, drinking coffee at this time of day; I don't even drink coffee, and I don't even know where there is one! I answer with my mind all overwhelmed that I was not in the mood, half stammering and pointing to the first place that comes to my mind. Well, after the coffee question, there were many more, we introduced ourselves, name, address, profession, which we had in common. We talked about history, about Cuba, about Paris, about his travels, about our passion for language teaching, and at that moment I forgot all about the bad day I had had. Actually, at some point I thought he sensed my low mood and reached out to really turn my day around; and he did. Sometimes I think that the people who come into my life are there to teach me some life lesson, nothing happens by chance, everything has a reason. That day, Thierry, Mr. tourist with shorts and funny glasses, drew a smile on my face when I was in an unpleasant moment of my life and from that moment on, we learned to know each other.
